Room Selection
Room Selection Step by Step
- Log into your myUK account with your linkblue username and password.
- Select the Student Services tab.
- Select Undergraduate Housing under the myInfo tab. Select your housing application.
- Go to the Roommate Requests section of the application to verify any roommates. REMINDER: Students participating in a Living Learning Program (LLP), with the exception of students joining the Community of Scholars, must select other roommates who belong to the same LLP. If you discover you have selected roommates who are not students participating in your same LLP, you will be unable to pull these students into the space with you during Room Selection. To find other students within your same LLP, please follow these steps:
- Log into your Housing portal via myUK, and go to the Roommate Requests portion of your housing application. If you have created a verified roommate group, you will be able to see if the selected roommates belong to your LLP.
- If you discover that any of the students within your created roommate group do not belong to your same LLP, you will need to use the Roommate Matching feature within the Housing portal to search for students who are members of your LLP. Each student’s chosen LLP can be seen when you view their information.
- Select the Rooms step, and then click the name of your building.
- Depending on which building you will be living in, you will see either a list of floors or a list of rooms. Either select the room or the floor in which you are interested.
- If your desired building does not appear, it means there are no spaces available at this time. We advise you to continue looking for availability at your convenience.
- Select a bed space. They are labeled A through D.
- If you have a verified roommate(s), be sure to book them into a bed space.
- Confirm your booking within the Rooms section of the application. You will also receive a confirmation email of your booking.

They can also view the profile information you submitted as part of your application, if you have chosen to display this information. This is how other students can tell if you might have some common interests and would make a good roommate match. We recommend viewing our Room Selection: Solo (Finding a Roommate) video.
I’m in an LLP. Will my roommate also be in the LLP?
All LLP students, with the exception of Community of Scholars, are required to live with students in their same LLP. Click here to view some frequently asked questions pertaining to LLPs.
Community of Scholars students are the only LLP students allowed to room with students outside that LLP; however, we ask that you notify UK Campus Housing by emailing ukhousing@uky.edu or calling 859-257-1866 to officially process this request.
What if I am participating in an LLP but I do not have a roommate in mind? Can I still participate in Room Selection?

Yes. First, make sure you have applied to the Living Learning Program by May 19 and officially accepted your LLP offer by May 26. With the exception of the Community of Scholars LLP, students participating in a Living Learning Program are expected to live with other students in that same LLP. You will need to log into myUK and return to the Roommate Requests section of the Housing portal to use the Roommate Matching feature. This feature allows you to search for students who are also members of your LLP. Each student’s chosen LLP can be seen when you view their information. More information about the Living Learning Program at UK can be found here.
If I have changed my mind and no longer intend to participate in an LLP, will I need to select a different room or roommates?
Yes. If you no longer intend to participate in an LLP, you will need to officially decline your LLP offer within the Housing portal of myUK before May 26. Once the offer has been declined, you can consider yourself released from the LLP and may now select a different room, residence hall or roommate(s) by using the Room Swap function. All changes must be submitted prior to the closing of the Room Selection window at 11:59 p.m. on July 16.
I am attempting to select my room during my assigned Room Selection time slot, but I cannot pull my confirmed roommates into the living space with me. What does this mean?
This could mean a couple things.
- You need to create and verify your roommate group within the Roommate Requests section of the housing application in myUK. We recommend viewing our General Room Selection Overview video and Room Selection: Preferred Roommates video for step-by-step instructions.
- You have selected roommates outside of your LLP. REMINDER: Students participating in an LLP are expected to live with another student in the same LLP, unless you are joining the Community of Scholars LLP. To check that your roommates are members of the same LLP as you, log into myUK and visit the Roommates Requests section of your housing application. Once there, you will be able to view each student’s chosen LLP. If you discover that any of the students within your created roommate group do not belong to your same LLP, you will need to use the Roommate Matching feature within the Housing portal to search for students who are also members of your LLP. Each student’s chosen LLP can be seen when you view their information.
- If you have confirmed that both of the above items have been correctly completed and are still experiencing difficulty, please reach out to UK Campus Housing for assistance by emailing ukhousing@uky.edu or calling 859-257-1866.
If I am planning to join the Community of Scholars LLP, is it required that I room with another Community of Scholars student?

What if I can't find the room type I am looking for?
If you are having trouble locating a certain room type within our system, it may be because those room types have all been filled and are no longer available to select. Some room types, like the 2-Bedroom Suite, are popular and therefore, reserved more quickly. You are welcome to check back within the Campus Housing portal of myUK as often as you like to see if other students change their minds and release your preferred room type. There can be no guarantees that this will occur, but it does happen occasionally as students solidify their plans for the fall semester.
What if I already selected a room and I've changed my mind?
The Room Swap function within the Campus Housing portal of myUK allows you to view available rooms to move yourself into a new space. This function is ideal for students who have already chosen their room or bed space and would like to change residence halls or choose new roommates. You can swap rooms as many times as you like up until your Room Selection window closes. For more details on the Room Swap function, we recommend viewing our Room Selection: Room Swap video.
What does "hidden" mean?
When viewing students whose names appear within a bed space, you can hover your mouse over each student's name to find out more information about them. If they have chosen not to make their information public, the term “hidden” will appear when you hover your mouse over their name.
What if I have questions?
