Please review the FAQ below for answers to some common questions concerning UK Campus Housing and the waitlist.
Campus Housing Waitlist Implemented for Fall 2023
The University of Kentucky has reached capacity within our residence halls and has implemented a Campus Housing waitlist for the Fall 2023-Spring 2024 academic year for first-year students who submitted their housing application past the June 1 deadline.
More and more students are realizing that living on campus is a key to greater success at the University of Kentucky. UK Campus Housing has encouraged students to submit their Housing and Dining Application and Contract as soon as possible after receiving their UK acceptance letter. While it is possible that space could become available as students solidify their plans for the Fall 2023 semester, UK cannot guarantee that rooms will become available. Here are some options for you to consider:
-
Submit your UK Campus Housing Application and Contract knowing that you will be placed on a waitlist. Students who have not applied for housing may still submit their UK Campus Housing and Dining application to be automatically added to the housing waitlist. If space becomes available, your housing application completion date and time will be used to determine when or if you receive your room assignment. The deadline for new students to cancel their housing applications without incurring cancellation fees is typically June 1, but we have extended the cancellation window to July 1. After July 1, 2023, new students who cancel their applications will incur a $250 penalty fee which will increase on July 16 to 30% of the lowest housing rate for both the fall and spring semesters. All other cancellation windows reflect the schedule as outlined in the 2023-2024 UK Campus Housing contract. Click here to view the cancellation policy within the Housing and Dining Contract.
- Search for living accommodations within the surrounding area and sign a lease/contract. The decision to find off-campus accommodation is a personal decision for each student. The university does not provide referrals nor endorsement of off-campus rentals, but there are several apartment complexes and houses near campus. If you decide to live off campus for Fall 2023, please remember to log in to myUK to formally cancel your Campus Housing and Dining application to avoid incurring cancellation fees.
- Some off-campus housing complexes and rentals may ask you to provide proof from UK that you are required to move in early for fall semester. If you belong to an organization (sorority recruitment, band, athletic team, club, etc.), you may have been asked to move in prior to UK’s official move-in date. Please note that not all organizations may require students to move in early.
- You belong to an organization and know you’ve been required to move-in early: Please use the direct communication you’ve received directly from the organization (from an official UKY email account) and provide it to the complex or rental company as evidence you’ve been asked to arrive early.
- You belong to an organization and are unsure if early move-in is required: Please reach out to the organization and ask for a formal request to be sent from an official UKY email account. Again, not all organizations may require students to move-in early and you would need to contact your organization’s representative to find out.
If you have any questions or need assistance with your Housing Application and Contract, please reach out to UK Campus Housing by emailing ukhousing@uky.edu or calling 859-257-1866.
